The Tesla Cybertruck has landed in Fortnite and what we could’ve imagined to be an illustrious welcome to the game has turned sour with players now actively hunting after the Fortnite Cybertruck at any chance they get.
Still though, regardless of the shunning, it doesn’t change the fact that F2P has a completely free car body to earn by just completing simple quests.
So today, we’re checking out what you can unlock with the new Summer Road Trip event, how to get the Cybertruck in Fortnite, and we’ll briefly go over the controversy with the car’s debut in the game.

Summer Road Trip Quest & Fortnite Cybertruck Release Date & Availability
To unlock the Fortnite Cybertruck, you need to take part in the newly released Summer Road Trip Quest that will run from July 23rd, 2024 to August 6th, 2024.
Complete the Quests while you still have plenty of time. The good news is that even after the Quest line ends, the Fortnite shop will offer it with the v30.40 update, which is also scheduled for August 6th.

How to Unlock the Cybertruck in Fortnite For Free & Additional Rewards
Starting from July 23rd, there will be new Summer Road Trip Quest objectives with a total of 9 Quests you can complete by August 6th. The good news is there are only two Quests that will alternate:
- Earn XP in creator-made islands.
- Earn XP with a party in the Battle Royale game mode, Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, or Fortnite Festival.
Completing all nine Quests before the event ends will reward you with the Tesla Cybertruck Bundle. But there are a few additional rewards for reaching Quest completions too including:
- Underworld Camo Wrap for completing 3 Quests.
- Sun Sign Back Bling for completing 6 Quests.
- Beast Mode Cybertruck Boost for completing 9 Quests (in addition to the Cybertruck skin)
- Road-trip themed sprays
Additionally, while the Fortnite Cybertruck Bundle will be on sale, there is an exclusive reward, the Baja Off-Road Decal which you can receive for completing the Summer Road Trip event.
The Controversy w/ the Cybertruck in Fortnite
A free and earnable skin in Fortnite is a welcome addition to any F2P player’s collection, but other players in your lobby might not be too keen to see you riding in one. Right now, Fortnite fans on X and Reddit have declared that any Cybertruck in the game is to be destroyed and eradicated on sight.
But why are fans even doing it?
Well for one, Elon Musk. And otherwise, the car isn’t exactly a ‘looker’ in any regard. Tesla’s Cybertruck has been embroiled in numerous controversies, including recalls, safety concerns, and mechanical failures. Or maybe it’s just for the memes and collective community effort to keep the Cybertruck off Fortnite.
Whether the animosity is towards Elon Musk’s controversial antics on X (formerly Twitter) or just a general discontent for the Fortnite Cybertruck, for now, it might not be a good idea to be caught riding in one lest you wanted to be targeted by everyone in the lobby.
